Another important feature to evaluate is how the backup process is managed as the process can be “automated” such that they run when the computer has been sitting idle for a specific period of time or on a planned schedule when it is convenient to you.

Virtually all of today’s backup solutions encrypt the data and compress it prior to sending it offsite, so firms should verify that the specific vendor’s process and standards meet their requirements for data security in the states in which they practice.
